This is what happens when gutter brackets are driven straight into brickwork and mortar. The load has nowhere sensible to go, so it spreads into the wall instead. Mortar cracks, bricks fracture, fixings loosen, and over time the gutter line sags or pulls away completely. It’s a solution that relies on brute force rather than structure, hoping the masonry will tolerate movement, vibration, and years of weather. Sometimes it holds. Often it doesn’t. And when it fails, it takes the wall with it.
